FORENSIC PSYCHIATRY

About Dr. Puthumana

I’m Dr. Puthumana, MD Psychiatrist and fellowship-trained forensic psychiatrist providing clinical and forensic psychiatric services for adults in Illinois and New York.  In addition to clinical practice, I provide forensic psychiatric evaluations and consultation in legal contexts requiring structured, objective psychiatric opinion.

In forensic evaluations, my role is strictly objective. Opinions are based on comprehensive record review, clinical interview, and application of relevant legal and psychiatric standards. Clarity, neutrality, and accuracy are central to all forensic work.

Licensure & Practice

Disability & Compensation Evaluations

In my private practice, I also conduct psychiatric evaluations related to disability and compensation claims, including veteran-focused assessments. I do not act as a treating provider in forensic evaluations, ensuring neutrality and adherence to professional and legal standards.

These evaluations may include:

  • Psychiatric disability assessments
  • Comp and pension examinations for veterans
  • Diagnostic clarification in complex presentations
  • Documentation support for administrative or legal processes

All evaluations are conducted with attention to clinical accuracy, thorough documentation, and objective analysis of functional impact
